Hohenschönhausen, Berlin

AUKETT + HEESE were shortlisted in the limited competition for the redevelopment of the historical centre of Berlin-Hohenschönhausen, in the east of the city. The Brief was for large-scale retail use for a private developer and the revitalisation of the linear main street.
The Masterplan envisaged a series of linked public spaces, both hard and soft, which joined the residential zones otherwise separated by their post-war pre-fabricated block structure.
A glazed Market Hall and new tram station were proposed.
