As part of the original Knorr Bremse works in Berlin-Friedrichshain, the Administration Building designed by Alfred Grenander in 1913 and completed in 1916, was renovated and converted by AUKETT + HEESE into a Knorr Bremse Branch office and a museum of their products. The opening was in March 1995 to coincide with Knorr Bremse's 90th anniversary.
AUKETT + HEESE were commissioned as General Planner for the design and execution of this very high-quality fit-out project, which was carried out in consultation with the City Historic Buildings surveyors to renovate in accordance to the original fabric, which after 45 years of neglect was only recorded in original photos and drawings. As a counterpoint classic and modern furniture and lighting was specified.
Completion: March 1995
